Brotherly Love

It's amazing this little guy's still in one piece after all the "loving" he gets from big brother...

Did any of you get beat up by siblings and live to tell about it? Is there any hope for baby?

Tuesday Critique Week 1

Hey world! Have you missed us? Been keeping busy and totally slacking on the blog front. But we have good news: today is our first installment of Tuesday Critiques!

With so many students taking our classes, we want to devote one day a week to them on our blog. So Dustin will be choosing one image a week to highlight and discuss here on the blog.

Apologies: 1. this is new software, and 2. it's 1:30 am. After the upload process we saw it is terrible resolution, depending on where you're viewing it. Not sure what went wrong. We'll work out bugs for next week. Not going to record it again at this point. So please, as you're watching, pull up another window with the actual picture here so you can see it in all it's beauty.

Congrats, Jamie for being chosen for this week's critique! Keep up the good work.

First day of Spring?

I think not. Several inches of snow convinced me Spring hasn't arrived yet... anyone else get some white flurries? I saw a number of cars in ditches from black ice. Are you all staying safe?

I am definitely not "Dreaming of a White Easter."

Lucky

Not only did I get the chance to travel across the country to enjoy being with family in February, but I got to shoot the wedding as well! I love having great photos of family I adore. And I love the photos I take, to be honest. They make me happy. I'll be sharing a number of images from this amazing 3-day photo excursion, but here's just some from the wedding breakfast.

My adorable mom helping me with the kiddos while I shoot (Dustin stayed behind in Oklahoma).

This kid makes me happy.

Father of the groom, my uncle.

Beautiful aunt who's an amazing doctor. They live in Ohio in an adorable home.

That would be my cousin Ben in the background. He loves to make random faces.

Mother of the groom, my aunt. She travels the nation for all of our big events; it was so nice to be here for hers.

Check out that groom gazing out the window, looking lovestruck.

And I had to share one more of my little blue eyes. He's so precious.

I am so lucky to have amazing family, and that we all got to spend a little time together at this wonderful wedding. More pictures to come...

Family Session | Oakland, CA

We met this adorable family when their oldest was 4 weeks old, and we were just barely pregnant. We lived just blocks away from each other. Now we're both in other states, living busy lives with 2 kids each. How awesome it was to get a call the day i arrived in San Jose, CA to shoot this wedding asking if I could fit them in. They were to celebrate their little man turning 6 months, and we got a whole lot of great family shots in there as well.

It worked out perfectly. We had solid rain for days, but out came the sun just in time. These pictures were meant to be taken.

Check out her rain boots? They were the cutest things.

Dallas, here we come

After living here for over a year and a half, we are finally making it to visit Texas! We're going to have a blast with some of our friends at Six Flags. Maybe we'll take some fun pictures... maybe not.

(who am i kidding? Me-- not take pictures? )

Stop Time

It's times like these: I'm looking at images from sessions we shoot and think, I would love to have images like this of me and my mom.

What an amazing world we live in with such amazing tools to help us remember our lives. I feel awed and grateful for photography. It satisfies something deep within me. It freezes time of a moment too precious to forget. I have a terrible long-term memory, so I am even more grateful for those images i capture--visual reminders of experiences I hold dear.

To remember the blessings of life... so glad I could capture your family with my camera, friends!

To all our clients: thank you to all of you, every one. It is such a blessing to be trusted to capture your lives, and I hope the images we capture bring you even more joy than they bring to us.

Life is meant to be remembered.

Happy 6 Months | Oakland, CA

This little guy timed his 6 month mark PERFECTLY for my visit to California in February. He had so many fun faces, and the biggest, bluest eyes you ever have seen. Serious eye envy. I love his little suit at the end. Too cute.

Private Photo Lessons Rock

Our photo classes are getting more and more popular-- just in our two photo basics I classes this month combined (6pm class and 7:30 class) we have 30 students!

We hold classes in the evenings because most people have work and school, usually on a Wednesday or Tuesday night. You can check back often on our lessons site schedule to see when upcoming classes are offered. If there's a class that's full, feel free to raincheck it! We had enough rainchecks to open a second class this month. If you speak, we listen.

But what if that schedule doesn't work for you? Good news: we offer private lessons, so you can go at your own pace at a time you prefer. I met with a super cute mom today who's been taking lessons for a number of weeks, and as part of her lesson we took pictures of each other to practice what we were learning. Check out this shot she took of me! Isn't it fantastic? This is definitely going on facebook. Stacey, you rock! Great job; can't wait till next time.

Class of 2010: Ben

Despite Ben's vehement protests, his mom persisted and insisted on having his senior pictures done. He was much too humble to admit that he looked GOOD! Hope you enjoy!
