I'm back!!!

So I am now home from a whirlwind of a trip. Great weddings and portrait sessions. Awesome blog posts to come!  I didn't know how wiped I was until getting home, and I think I won't recover for a few more days! So bear with me, and i'll get pictures up from my trip!

Two boys missing mommy

For the last week + I have been playing both mommy and daddy. I now have a renewed respect for single parents.....it is tough! But Corban and I have been loving hanging out together. Here's some shots for the mommy we miss.....We love you mommy!

Corban in the bath tub (splashing toddler and expensive camera equipment don't mesh well)

Morley Wedding: Preview

Although a snowstorm threatened, we were spared and even saw a little sun and blue skies by the end of the couple pictures! It has been a wonderful and long valentine's day, a special time for this cute couple. So glad i could share the day with you, and see many old friends from Fairport, NY here in Utah!  But it's super late, and i better be off to bed! More pictures to come soon...

Drooling.

So many of you have heard about the new Canon D Mark II, with it's video capabilities. I am so impressed as i've seen a few videos out there. Here's just the most recent one i stumbled across, and i love her style.

All of the footage and stills were shot with the Canon 5D Mark II.

(Note: this is NOT my work. I'm just an admirer.)  This video's like 7 minutes long, but it just fascinates me, as well as fun music and images. Enjoy!

Brand New Class: Basics 2

We started a photo basics 2 class....it's the most "hands-on" class we have. Basically we alternate weeks doing live photoshoots with the student. Consequently, we needed a model! Luckily for us, one of our facebook followers (Megan) was willing to help out very last minute on an incredibly windy day. Thanks Megan! I told my students that we will probably never again be blessed with someone as beautiful as Megan so to milk it for all it's worth. And we did! (Although it killed me that I couldn't use a reflector....i figured for pedagocial reasons, I should avoid overwhelming students with an entirely new concept....LIGHTING! AHHHH).

Lovin' the nice weather today...

How's the weather where you're at? Are you sunshine and warm, or under 3 feet of snow??

Creating a fairytale

During my trip to Utah, I'm going to have the opportunity to photograph 2 amazing singers.

I'm looking for help to find location/ideas for a fairytale theme, fantasy. Anyone have any ideas to brainstorm? I think we'd travel anywhere from SLC to Spanish Fork, but if there's an amazing location, we may travel further.

It doesn't have to be a well-known place. An old mansion in your neighborhood that you could get us a foot in would be awesome too...

Thanks!!!

Doggies on the brain

So if you had asked me 2 months ago if I would want a hairless dog, I would have given you a strange look. But after one short evening, I am in love. Dustin says if we ever get a dog, it will be a lassie dog. But these little friends are just to die for! You don't have to worry about hair, and they are cute and cuddly.

We shot these friends in Seattle in our trip there, and i never posted about the shoot! I was also in the process of finding out i was pregnant, so these little friends made me baby hungry too! So warm and soft-skinned...

Their "mommy" had lots of cute clothes to dress them in to keep them warm during the winter. Seattle had crazy snow storms for the first time i ever saw. Good job keeping them warm!

This is Blu, check out her adorable poncho!
Mommy love to Vortex...
Quite a handsome little guy
I love the wrinkles on his forehead.
And Blue again, lounging in her bathrobe. :)

Merry Christmas you two!!
So fun to meet you guys! Hope i see you again soon!

BYU Management Society

I never posted more of the photos from the event that was about a week ago.

If you have never been inside Oklahoma's State Capitol, it is pretty impressive. Check out the architecture of this building!

During the evening, we took portraits of attendees. We love our portable lights.

Don't let this yummy sight deceive you. This isn't ice cream. It's cheesecake! Can you believe it? I was sorely disappointed because my favorite food on the face of the earth is ice cream. They even had all the toppings for an amazing sundae. It wasn't until i took the first bite that i realized it wasn't ice cream. Boohoo. But dustin was happy-- he LOVES cheesecake.

Neat table centerpieces by Penny Chambers, (AKA miracle woman).
Beautiful music by harpist Kendall Hood.
Keynote speaker Jeff Benedict. I especially loved the passage he read about his mother. It inspired me to be a good mother to my son (and future kids!).

Some brave moms even brought their babies, and all of them were so good!
Really beautiful venue. Despite how bright this looks, it wasn't the brightest place to shoot. i shot this at 1600 ISO f4 at 1/20. I'm proud of my steady hand. :) I can shoot to 1/4th of a second if I'm careful.
Some books on sale afterwards.
And our very own work out for display. Fun evening, good to meet people.
